We Mets fans will be fine. Oh, who am I kidding?! Every other Mets fan I talk to is getting ready to push the whole team off the Brooklyn Bridge. I, however, keep trying to remember the 19-31 2019 Nats. I'll take my hope wherever I can get it.
If I had a lot more time, I would offer to score a prediction on what the 50 included seasons will be. Alas, I have a little too much going on right now... but I would LOVE to see A.) what Joe picks, and B.) what the readers THINK Joe will pick!
I didn’t get the idea that he was going to pick a team for a season, but would focus on individual players. For example, I would be very surprised if he didn’t pick Mark Fydrych’s too short run, and Fernandomania. And I think he’ll pick Yaz’s 67 heroics, but don’t guess the Cardinals will be much of the story. Rather, that whole AL pennant race in the last couple months of the season, which was one of the best ever and where Yaz lifted the Red Sox would be the main focus.
I mentioned this on another thread, if you're including Roger Maris in the 50 seasons book, please consider adding that he actually hit 62 but one was negated because of a rainout in Baltimore.
My partner and I, both Mets fans, always choose an AL team to follow each season. This year picking the Tigers was so easy cuz it meant listening to Benetti.

Cardinals season I would pick - 2011. It meant so much to me.
Cardinals season Joe might pick - 1967, since he can cover the BoSox's "Impossible Dream" team and the Redbirds' "El Birdos" in the same essay.
