Joe, back to the baseball book for a second. I was just finishing and loved every word. Until. My hero, Willie Stargell did not hit a two run home run in the 1978 World Series. It was 1979. You may have caught this error later and I missed it. But, man, how does a baseball guy whiff on that??
Canโt wait to see you at Unity Temple (or wherever in KC) to pick up my autographed copy and hear you discuss the book, and Mahomes, Kelce, and Swift. ๐
looks GREAT- promote the hell out of it, Joe, you've earned it! it's only right for you to promote your always astounding work considering all the enjoyment you give us almost daily...
Regarding your โresolutionโ to reduce the self promotion. Hereโs my 2 cents for what itโs worth. I enjoy your work and want to continue to enjoy your work. For that to happen you need to be successful, so I want you to be successful. And part of you being successful is you promoting your stuff. So promote away. Iโve never found your self promotion to be anything less than joyful so please continue as much as you believe necessary.
So looking forward to this! I'll be eagerly awaiting the details on signed copies (my only real collection vice--usually my rule is I have to get it signed in person, but in your case, given our shared NEO roots, living on opposite coasts, etc., I'll make an exception :-) Just promise me a Kindle version to, you know, actually read...).
Is there any way you could sneak in a Baseball 100 with an inscription when your signing all the football books? We bought copies but missed the promotion. It is for my son who besides being a librarian is a published young adult author who has written two baseball novels amongst his works.
He loves Baseball 100 and I would love to give him an inscribed copy. Thanks for considering it.
There's nothing really wrong with writing dual "Why We Love Baseball" and "Why We Love Football" books, but it does feel mildly traitorous. Certainly something of which George Carlin would not have approved. Like rooting for two Chicago pro teams or two New York ones. I also think it's a title completely out of keeping with the spirit of football, which is not romantic and sentimental, but more like, "Why Football Rocks." But I understand that one must sell books and further the brand, in the way that the "for dummies" books could not all have individual titles.
It's like "How much more black could it be?"
And the answer is "none."
None more black.

There canโt be too much โBoโ โฆ
Schembechler, Jackson, Diddley or Derek?

I'm quite certain that Joe isn't going to limit himself to the NFL and college football....

can't wait for sept. 17
I canโt wait to read this book!
Black is nice, although surprised a combination dark brown and orange wasn't chosen
If you tweak that image of the cover, you can turn the football orange and the background dark brown.....

Beautiful cover, and everything is spelled correctly! LOL

I'm not sure why I didn't realize that this would span beyond the NFL but now I'm even more excited.
