Oh Joe! This is so beautiful. The love you and yours had for Westley, and he for you, is forever. I had to laugh as well as tear up, your descriptions of his antics, fave things, and meh attitude on football. We have had a furry creature or two as a member of our family for over 50 years - the parting is tremendously heart breaking, the memories are unbelievably precious. And now I will always remember your Westley.

As always, Joe, tears fill my eyes as you write about your beautiful relationship. Wishing you and your family all the best. And hoping that Westley gets to watch Monty Python (and no Browns games) on an infinite loop.

Beautifully done. Another reminder that dogs are better than we deserve.

Thanks for posting.

From your writings over the years Westley sounds like a wonderful part of your family and I'm glad you got to have 14 special years with him. My condolences to you and your family.

Wish we had been able to get Westley together with our poodle, Fezzik.

The hardest thing about deciding to adopt a new dog is knowing that someday you will have to say goodbye.

Sorry for your loss.

There's nothing better than a dog. But, you know that. And, there's nothing better than Westley. But you know that and your essay was so beautiful. They say that heaven is the place where all of you pets come to greet you. May it be so, Joe. May it be so.
