Waino was there in 2006 for the most nervous I've EVER been watching a sporting event, facing Carlos Beltran in October with everything on the line. Two times I tried to call my dad as Beltran strode to the plate, and each time I misdialed because my fingers were shaking so much. And Waino was there again in 2019, when Waino threw 8 shutout innings against the Cubs, the last game I ever watched with my dad, who died shortly after. And that's one of many things I love about baseball.

Hey Joe,

Something of note: with his 200th win, Wainwright will presumably retire with the career record of 200-128, 3.53 ERA. Jon Lester, who in some respects was the AL equivalent to Wainwright (crafty lefty, memorable post-seasons, among the last 7/8 inning pitchers), finished his career 200-117, 3.66. That this is such a close match seems fitting, though as a Red Sox fan I can't help to point out that Lester beat Wainwright twice in the 2013 World Series.
