I think they should reboot "Field of Dreams" about a modern farmer trying to save his dad's disgraced baseball hero. As before, the plan works and the modern farmer ends up getting visited by the ghost of his father's hero, the still-living Pete Rose, who sets up an autograph booth in the middle of the corn field and won't leave until everyone pays him $75 per signature while listening to him complain about how Ichiro's Japanese league stats shouldn't count.
"And look. Some other player ghosts are showing up too. There's Jose Canseco, Steve Garvey, Dale Berra, Darryl Strawberry, Roger Clemens, John Wetteland, Chad Curtis, Lenny Dykstra..."
Dream 10 would be amazing. Annie remains my favorite character from any baseball movie. She was an awesome combination of spunky, adventurous and understanding.
They’re going to need to cut down a lot of corn to expand the field. Current dimensions are small. I played a vintage base ball game there last year and guys were reaching the corn using vintage balls/bats.
Dream #8 - Does the ghost of Ray Boone show up?
And with regards to Dream #5....

Terrible movie imho, but if you like it, fine. Great article, though.
It’s good as a sweet sentimental fantasy. It’s bad as a message movie.
This article gave me goose bumps. Then I got something in my eye. Both eyes, actually.
Made me laugh out loud a few times. Well done, Joe. (And I love the movie, too)
I've said this before, but this is now officially my favorite ever thing you've written. Stay tuned for a new favorite when I read the Houdini.
It would be better if the White Sox were playing the Reds in 1919 throwbacks...
It’ll be a bit awkward when they have to bench their nonwhite players though.
And if the Reds are involved, Pete Rose would have to be there in some capacity. Now that the Black Sox are dead, who better to carry on their legacy?
Why in the world would they bench the nonwhite players?
When you have to explain a joke...
If they were recreating the 1919 World Series, that’s what they’d have to do. And the movie famously has only white players come out of the cornfield.
They’d also have to get Reinsdorf to screw over his players financially. I think he can handle that.*
*Yes I know everything people think they know about that Black Sox scandal is a lie. This is also a joke.

I should have read the announcement first. MLB building a separate field that overlooks the movie set field.
Ughk...
