The way to watch and appreciate Adams is to watch him like a dominant middle linebacker in college football. He stops runs on the ball, intercepts passes, and maybe most of anything is just constantly in the right place and doesn't allow the other team to run its offense through the zone that it would most like to. If you have the American football-watching skillset, I think you can totally appreciate Adams.

In my mind the second best player on the team has been Yunus Musah who is a more frenetic version of Adams. Less constantly in the right place but fast and physical and active. He's like an outside linebacker who gets sacks and tackles for losses and forces fumbles.

Where Adams is calm and composed and prevents disaster, Musah imposes himself and applies constant pressure that often results in putting the US back on the front foot. They've been an incredible pairing and at 23 and 20 (today was Musah's birthday!) respectively, we have 2 more whole World Cup cycles to enjoy them as a midfield pairing. Plenty of time to appreciate them :)

In three games, US has scored...2 goals. And has 5 points. This is Big Ten West level of offense (specifically Iowa).
