The Rockies' run differential

The Colorado Rockies, in their first 18 games, have been outscored by 51 runs. That’s quite a feat — at the moment, they have scored almost exactly half as many runs as their opponents. They have scored 52 runs. Their opponents have scored 103.

That’s not great, no.

Even worse, it’s not like they’re giving up double-digit runs every game. in fact, they have only given up 10-plus runs once, in their 17-2 catastrophe against Milwaukee. They are getitng outscored like this becaus they can’t hit at all. They were shut out three straight games, they have scored two or fewer runs in 61% of their games so far this season.

Look, we knew they were going to be bad. But yikes.

Joe’s Notebook is filled with web-only riffs. They will pop up whenever.
