Baseball is happening! Here’s your weekly splash of joy:

Why do you love baseball?

Brilliant Reader Chuck: “Everyone deserves children who love baseball this much.”

Brilliant Reader Michael: “That exquisite moment after you’ve made perfect contact and the ball is rocketing toward the gap — and you just have to run. Soon you’ll have decisions to make. But now: just run.”

Brilliant Reader Marc: “Talk about emotions! But we hold on, and Brooks jumps higher than is humanly possible, and I’m thrilled. Loyalty and the O’s win!”

Brilliant Reader Steve: On July 4th, 1976, we went to an Indians game at Municipal Stadium. I was 18. It was “I Hate the Yankees Hankee” night. The Indians won! We were from Western New York so had New York license plates. Driving out, Cleveland fans saw our plates and wanted to turn our car over. I waved the Hankee out the window to prove we were Indians fans!

Joe: I immediately — and I do mean immediately — went to eBay to buy my own I hate the Yankees Hankee. I am MORTIFIED that I was unaware of this product. Unfortunately, the only one I saw was this 1110 WWWE radio version from 1977, which is not as cool as the original, but, you know, close enough.

Fridays are Clubhouse days around here. The Clubhouse is where the conversation opens up — when we go a little deeper, wander down a few side roads, have friendly arguments, chat over the weekend, and share some joy.

If you’re a Clubhouse member, come on down — the door’s open below.

If you’re a free reader, thank you for being here. If you ever feel like joining us on Fridays — not for more, exactly, but to be a bigger part of our world — we’d love to have you.
