Sticking to Two Doughnuts Per Day
The happy life of Mickey Lolich, gracious losers, Big Fan giveaways, a Super Bowl pick, and a Friday in The Clubhouse
Four days to pitchers and catchers reporting, and here’s your daily splash of joy:
Why do you love baseball?
Brilliant Reader Patrick: “The Royals won the World Series the year I went to my first game (1985). They won it again the year I took my oldest two sons to their first game (2015).”
Brilliant Reader Brian: “I love the weird ways we fall in love with players who we never got a chance to watch play.”
Brilliant Reader Craig: “Sitting in the upper deck at Shea Stadium in 1969 when a black cat ran onto the field by the Cubs dugout and stared down Leo Durocher. The Cubs were finished.”
Brilliant Reader Gayle: “Sharing my love of baseball by teaching my granddaughter (and her Cardinal teddy bear) to keep score. Continuing the tradition my dad shared with me. “
Fridays are Clubhouse days around here. The Clubhouse is where the conversation opens up — when we go a little deeper, chase a few side roads, have friendly arguments, chat over the weekend, laugh (often), and share some joy.
If you’re a Clubhouse member, come on down — the door’s open below.
If you’re a free reader, thank you for being here. Truly. And if you ever feel like joining us on Fridays — not for more, exactly, but to be a bigger part of our world — we’d love to have you.
