Has there ever been as great a player as Pujols who rode out the twilight of his career on such a large contract (relative to the era) while sharing his team with two players like Trout and Ohtani?
Not really an problem, but something I noticed: I scrolled back to the oldest entries in the archive and noticed that all of the oldest entries are double listed. Scrolling from newest to oldest, this starts with "Four-Pitcher Grand Slams: Results" on 10/15/13. Each of the duplicate entries has a different url.
Joe, I am liking the Substack. It seems to work about the same, but I love the fact that all the user comments are in 1 spot.
Question: If you still have the ORIGINAL baseball 100 list from JoeBlogs, can you publish it? We had a prediction contest going, and never got to see the end results. Thanks, and keep up the great content.
Well I finally made it in. So far I like it, but it was a challenge to get here because Substack does not take Discover for a CC. Good thing I had another option.
I don't have enough experience yet to know if substack is better or worse--so far for me it hasn't been a big change (and I didn't have problems with patreon). But the 1 change that has been quite positive in my estimation is the searchable archive. I'm a professor writing a book on Pete Rose--one of your periodic subjects to be sure--and the searchable archive came in handy as I finished up the current chapter (your book on Houdini, however, will be out WAY before mine if I can manage to finish it). Second thing: I didn't know the Good Place was ending. I thought maybe you posted a spoiler until I googled and saw the announcement. That's too bad, I've enjoyed it (but Parks and Rec remains one of my very favorites).
Joe, I gladly subscribed, would have paid the full rate if needed. I just really enjoy your baseball writing and it brings great joy to me when new post comes out. Thanks!
Hi Joe. I think the move has gone really smoothly and it is a much more enjoyable experience logging and reading here. I’d love to see more charity t-shirts and the Shadowball 100 which had some really great posts. Best wishes. Al
I remember you mentioning something about a live Poscast in the works for the fall. Is that still a possibility? I’m hoping for a Cooperstown meet up/live poscast.
Also, what’s going on with Passion in America? Any new podcasts in the works?
The switch has been great for me personally, by the way. Thanks.
I’m visiting Kansas City for the first time in a while and last night I drove over the Broadway Bridge. I was thrilled to see that it had been renamed as the Buck O’Neil Bridge! According to Wikipedia this was done in 2016. Did you play a part in this?
I definitely pushed for it, but I was not one of the key people involved in making this happen. Mayor Sly James and my dear friend, Negro Leagues Museum president Bob Kendrick, were among those who led the charge. It's a wonderful thing; I've always loved that bridge anyway. To have Buck's name on it: Very cool.
Hi Joe. The switch, unlike a baseball, has been seamless so far. I’d love to see the return of the Shadowball 100, they are some of my favourite stories. I’d love more opportunities to buy charity t-shirts based on stupid disagreements between you and Mike. Best wishes for the future and your continued success, I enjoy your work immensely. Al
I can't imagine what is "cleaner" about substack. It is far less user friendly than Patreon. Regardless, I'll buy what you're selling because your articles are terrific, but substack is a step down for your readers.
Thanks for sticking with us, Barry. I will say it has been almost unanimous praise for Substack from folks so far ... so definitely glad to hear about anything you think is lacking or can be improved.
Joe - perhaps if you or someone can state what is "cleaner" about substack- I think I'm just missing something or have it configured wrong or something...like are the fonts easier to read, is it set up in a way that is easier to find things...something tangible like that - can you state what I'm missing? Thanks - you're the best Joe.

Whatever happened to the Shadowball 100? I really liked those and I liked how they were paired with the Baseball 100...can we bring those back?
Hey Joe, any thoughts on transplanting the existing comment threads to substack?

Why aren’t the top-level comments in chronological order?

I knew nothing of it until I saw it and it brought a big smile to my face.
What is the RSS feed, please? Can’t find one. Thanks.

I am an original subscriber, but paid full price at Substack. Can I get a refund for the difference?

BTW - I just read the "archive" suggestion and that is an improvement (again in that it makes it more like Patreon was).
