It’s hard for me to see where baseball will be in 5 years with these trends becoming the norm. One of the things that has always drawn me in to watching a game is the classic small ball situations - scoreless game in the 4th or down a run or two in the 8th - and the leadoff guy draws a walk. The elimination of strategy for power has really lowered my interest level during the regular season. And yet, for some reason, in the playoffs when every run really matters, small ball tears it’s head again. Hmmm...
