At different times on Wednesday, it looked like:

  • The Mariners were going to the ALCS for the first time in almost 25 years.

  • The Yankees were going to hang tough behind their sudden phenom Cam Schlittler.

  • The Brewers were going to pull off one of those pesky comebacks that have marked their wonderful season.

  • The Phillies were going to find a way to lose a game that they should have won.

  • None of those things happened. The Mariners did that Mariners thing of making things as hard on themselves as possible. The Blue Jays put the Yankees to rest and kicked off their annual “when will the Yankees start acting like the Yankees again” Octoberfest celebration. The Cubs held on for dear life and still have a heartbeat. And the Phillies destroyed a legend who had no business being in the game.

So let’s talk some baseball in The Clubhouse!
