About that AT&T ad ... 54 years ago James Coburn starred in the title role of "The President's Analyst" which presaged The Phone Company's schemes of world domination:
Caution: the film contains a scene about race relations featuring Godfrey Cambridge that is powerful, moving, and no longer safe for the internet. A pity, that.
I may have missed this in a prior comment thread, but has there ever been an update regarding the signed bookplates? We were hoping to get one in time to add it to a book we bought as a Christmas gift.
I picked up my hardcover copy of "The Soul of Baseball" and re-read the last 20 pages... Wow, a tough read... Curious, did you add any writing when the paperback was released? And, any thoughts of updating the book for a 15-year anniversary to celebrate Buck's induction (finally) into the Hall of Fame? Dig more into the why the 2006 committee didn't elect him then... Talk about how far the NLBM has come since 2006... Celebrate the "Tip Your Cap" promotion... Brag about how well Bob Kendrick has done since taking over from Don Motley... Talk about Buck's seat at Kauffman Stadium... Update everyone on the renovations to Satchel's house on 28th Street... So much more to add to the story in addition to Buck making the Hall of Fame...
How was chess ever not analytics driven? The whole game is calculating a series of moves that will lead to victory. Isn't it, by it's very nature, analytics driven?
Yes Joe! Please write about chess, horse racing , curling, pole vaulting, ninja warrior, Bruce S and anything else that interests you! If younput your heart into it as always we will read it with great eagerness.
We have a nine year old granddaughter who loves to cook with me and cuddle with grandma watching TV at bed time. Beat Bobby Flay is one of her favorite shows (kids are wonderfully odd that way). She has recently begun to comment, when cooking with me, that I am not quite up to Bobby Flay's standards. Your "You're no Bobby Flay" note made me guffaw.
For those interested in "The Soul of Baseball" who haven't read it yet, I highly recommend the audiobook. David Sadzin reads it and it is as much an experience as a reading. It's tremendous
More Chess, please!!

Prescient? Ominous? Prophetic? You decide.

What analytics have done to chess is even… (trying to avoid saying “worse”) than what they’re done to baseball.

Did you ever write that iPad review?
I have been waiting so long for that in order to make a purchase decision.
Keep writing about chess! You are my only source of insight into chess (and tennis).
More Marvelous Molly Knight!
More chess please! I’ve been looking forward to your comments on the World Championship.
I for one would like more chess stuff
Is it possible to gift a multi-month subscription, or are the only options one month/one year?

I'm happy to read about whatever happens to be on your mind.
Hadn't realized how lucky I am to be the owner of a hard cover "The Soul of Baseball."
I’ll sell mine, for more than that.
