Fellow Browns fan here… why in the world would you pick a new favorite team? Honestly, the years I enjoyed football the most were the years the Browns were gone. I could enjoy the sport and not get all wrapped up with one team. Jeez, Joe, 50 some years of being a Browns fan… you gave plenty at the office. Enough already.

I get it. When you are a kid, you lock into the colors, the tradition, the moments....even the frustration. My great grandfather was one of the architects of the old Cleveland Municipal Stadium. So I'm a legacy. But when you get older, you can live with the highs and lows. The frustrations when it doesn't go your way...the euphoria when it does. But why you have the ability to understand that the ownership/leadership doesn't KNOW how to win or does CARE if they do know...well at some point, if they're going to treat you like a customer, at some point you need to ACT like a customer....and buy a better product.

That’s a very cool legacy! Saw many a baseball and football game in that stadium. Even have a picture of the last pitch hanging on my wall.

There was a plaque outside of the old stadium with his name, along with about a dozen other names who were integral to the constructions...we tried to get it, but one of the other families got dibs ahead of us.

First, when are we getting the iPad review? Second, let me remind you that your new NFL home should be the Chiefs, for many obvious reasons. Third, I seem to recall you already did a countdown of 200-101, so will the ten who missed be different?

I was a Street and Smith guy myself. Years later when the internet was new I scrambled to piece together every issue 1937 or so on to when they ceased publication. Could sit reading those for hours, especially the section on each team’s best prospects. “Lefty Jim Kaat looks to make the leap to the big leagues after posting a 15-4 record at Elmira.”

I probably did at least 300 of those elo votes myself. After a few cycles, I realized that the guy I wanted to see the most was Fernando Valenzuela (not that I think he's the 101st best player in history, but he really deserves a deep dive).

But then I had a Fernando Valenzuela vs. Hoyt Wilhelm vote and I realized that Wilhelm was the guy I wanted to see SECOND most, but he didn't show up much in the comparisons so I had to keep voting and voting and voting until I could give Wilhelm at least a few votes.

I'm really hoping both guys made the cut!

I did a bunch too. I’m curious about how many logic loops I put into the ratings. I’d rather read about player rock (not “stone”!) than player scissors, and I’d rather read about player scissors than player paper, but I’d rather read about player paper than player rock.

So the question to ask about your massive division-by-division baseball preview- will it be massive enough to include the Pirates. 😂😂 I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist.

BTW this is not a put down of the Pirates or their fans - they have a hard enough life as it is- but rather a reference to Joe failing to talk about, even mention, the Pirates in his baseball whirlwind blog post. For the Arizona Diamondbacks Joe said “To be perfectly honest, I kind of forgot they existed.”

For the Pirates there was no “kind of” about it.

Is this right? Broadcast news came out in 1987 so it would be weird to have a 1989 magazine. And how they have known to put greenwell on the cover given the movie was probably filmed before the 1987 season (his breakout)?

That timeline does seem rather impossible. Dwight Evans was on the cover of the 1987 edition -- another Red Sox OF with a mustache. Could that be the one in Broadcast News?

I definitely bought the 1989 Bill Mazeroski Baseball season preview from my local United Super grocery store. I remember they were always optimistic about the Royals, much like a certain KC Star columnist...

Mike Greenwell…..Yesssss!!!! One of my all-time favorite movies too, time to watch it again!

I loved the old Maz preview magazine, it was fantastic, but they also had a staff of dozens of people to do it, so... good luck?
