Five Moments From Last Night

It was striking to me how there were five moments during Tuesday night’s baseball action that more or less summarized the 2024 baseball season.

Moment No. 1: Bobby Witt Jr. vs. Ben Joyce

The Royals have been hot; they had come into their game against the woeful Angels having won five in a row and having moved into a tie with Minnesota for the second wild-card spot, a full 4½ games ahead of the tumbling Red Sox. The staying power of a Kansas City team that lost 100 games just last year has been so surprising and exciting.

Bobby Witt Jr. has, of course, been the face of that staying power.
