This right here is why I always read your stuff.

Anyone can report about sports. Quite a few can describe sports in a unique way. But very few transcend like this.

Well done, keep doing what you do. You’re an inspiration to far more people than you realize.

Joe, I found you about the time of that Jake story. Maybe it was THAT story. I know I started reading before you went to SI. I have read virtually everything since I found you. I love sports of course, but TODAY is why I always read you( and buy your books!) I am 71, I am married, and we have three grown daughters, ages 42, 40 and 38. I understand living in a house full of women and your crying discussion today. I rarely cry too, yet I cried like a baby reading what you said about George Bailey today.

“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32.

As a Christian, it has broken my heart to see how this kindness has been totally abandoned by people, and especially how it has been abandoned by so many who call themselves Christians.

Fred Rogers was kind. That’s what I think of when I think of him. Today you so beautifully described that core kindness of George Bailey. We need a lot more of that kindness today and every today and every season and every generation.

I love your work and your words. May your tribe increase.
