The ending was written at the beginning. It was inescapable. When the Cleveland Browns traded for Deshaun Watson on March 18, 2022—seven days after a grand jury declined to indict him despite sexual misconduct allegations from two dozen women—the big finish was inescapable. And so it happened.

The Deshaun Watson era ended on Sunday with the Cleveland Browns admonishing and lecturing and bashing their own fans for cheering his demise.
