Last night, I got this unsolicited review of The Baseball 100 from Bob Costas. Those of you who have heard my Bob Costas story will know just how much this means to me. And those of you who have not heard it … maybe I’ll tell it again while on the road with the Baseball 100:
Just finished the book... loved it! And FWIW, I read it straight through without looking ahead, perhaps the most disciplined act of my life. The "who's next" aspect really added to the enjoyment. Thank you for the incredible research, writing, humor, and humanity!
On recommendation of a close baseball friend I too read it through without looking ahead. Didn’t know I had that discipline. It was worth it. I’m n my pre-list from strictly memory and no research I had 72 if the 100. Lived every story and learned quite a bit more about the personal side of athletes in general. I have recommended the book to several baseball friends.
I had no idea you'd written a book, Joe. You really should work to publicize this more. Also, now that you are back working for yourself when will we get that iPad review? I've been waiting all these years for your review to decide whether to buy one.
Joe, can I ask: are you still planning to do the Joe’s Week in Baseball features? I know there’s little time left in the regular season, but that was my favorite feature in The Athletic (and a big reason I subscribed here!) so I’d love to see you keep it going.
This is a huge deal! That's so cool, and I get exactly how that feels. When one of my favorite authors blurbed my book, the things he said made me feel like my heart was going to burst with pride.

Bookshop delivered this hefty thing to me last week! Love it, every word

According to Amazon I pre-ordered this on Feb. 24th, so it's fair to say I've been looking forward to it for "a while" now.
