Hi Everyone —
It’s going to be a whirlwind here at Joe Blogs for the next couple of weeks. We’ve got the Ten Greatest Sports Books Ever countdown beginning on Monday, we’ve got my big book announcement on September 10, Margo and I are going on our first vacation in a good while — a vacation that involves magic and hot air balloons, so I have no idea WHAT to think. The goal will be just surviving.
And even with all that going on, we’re also doing something new: our first annual Baseball Scorekeeping Celebration!*
*I love putting “first annual” on stuff because one of the first lectures I ever received from an editor was when I put that into a note.
“THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS ‘FIRST ANNUAL,’” the editor barked at me. “IF IT’S THE FIRST ONE IT CANNOT BE ANNUAL!”
He’s right, of course. But I have been liberally using “first annual” ever since to get back at him.
For the Scorekeeping Celebration, we had the wonderful Liz Thompson over at Diamond Design Scorecards create a special JoeBlogs scorecard for the occasion. Pretty sweet, right?

If you signed up to take part in the scorekeeping celebration, you will be getting your own PDF version of the full scorecard (along with Liz’s “How to Keep Score” explainer in your inbox next week. If you’re a JoeBlogs paid subscriber (and really, isn’t today just the BEST day to become one? — then you can be a part of our Scorekeeping celebration and all the good stuff that is JoeBlogs) and haven’t signed up yet, you can do so by clicking “yes” in the poll below — all you have to do is score one game and offer up some thoughts on the experience.

Let’s get to some questions:
Brilliant Reader Seth: What are your thoughts on BBWAA finally creating a Relief Pitcher of the Year? I know you’ve written at length about pitchers, but do you think new recognition and awards will come in the future?
