Tell my why EVERY walk -- intentional or not -- shouldn't just put a runner on base and leave the hitter in the box. Punish the pitcher without possibly rewarding him by avoiding a dangerous hitter. Walk Mike Trout? Great. Now you face Trout again with another runner on base. Throw strikes.

And, FWIW, I agree somewhat with Joe's comparison to the treatment of a great WR in football, but I'd take it a step further. The intentional walk equivalent -- literally "taking the bat out of the hands" of a great hitter -- would be more like a football team committing intentional pass interference, that action resulting in a 5-yard penalty, and then the offensive team cannot throw to that great WR again until the next quarter of the game.

Agreed!!!

Make it harder to intentionally walk a hitter.

First get rid of the no pitch IBB

Keep the catcher behind the plate

No standing and stepping out to receive the ball

Make the pitcher locate outside and have the catcher locate outside or reach for it
