Greetings, Joe. Any way to work Hall of Famer Sam Rice into that Indiana lineup before the next round commences. Seems like there’d have to be room somewhere for a career .322 BA and .801 OPS from the thriving metropolis of Morocco!
So good. All the Rose-Bench drama I wanted. Thank you. As an Orioles fan who's team just drafted who appears to be a literal kid, but *checks notes* is in fact a full-sized adult, who hits the shit out of the ball, and who's father is Matt Holliday, who I swear I was just watching play yesterday, ... this hits a lot of marks for me.
Is is wrong to read Joe’s recap and keep coming back to the comments for the latest and not read a single word about last nights All Star game? Asking for a friend……
Good thing Joe made Georgia an 11 seed and not the 9 seed.
Imagine the controversy if Rose had crashed into Posey and broken his collarbone while scoring the winning run. Clearly the rules for this tourney are old time baseball :)
I have to say Joe, this is one of your better ideas. What a fricking hoot this is - every day! And I get that Michigan came up a little short, but they would have had Ted Simmons too.....
For the life of me, I can't understand why so many people are disturbed by baseball using actual strategy. Do you get annoyed that football teams stopped using the single wing?
I am not disturbed by it, other than it makes the game less interesting. More action is better. Think about hockey. When teams invented defenses that choked off scoring, hockey changed the rules to increase scoring. Basketball introduced the shot clock. Football stopped letting Lester Hayes cover himself in glue. A 3 hour game with 25 strikeouts and a 3-2 final with 6 combined hits isn't all that interesting.
Wow, no respect for NJ-born Hall of Famer Joe Medwick ;)
Oh, this gives me a forum to ask: I never got why Arrested Development used the picture of Rose sliding with the air horn. Can anyone explain?
Are we voting on the series, or just one game?
Fitting ending, as Oklahoma would have had to forfeit for using an illegal player -- Willie Wells was born in Austin, TX : https://nlbemuseum.com/history/players/wells.html
These recaps are getting unbelievably good.
We need a novel where every chapter is a game from this "State Tournament," played in a cornfield in Iowa, of course

"You wanted it more than me.” :-)
I can't believe Dottie Hinson, I mean Johnny Bench, didn't hold onto that ball...

One of your best ever, Mr.Posnanski!

What would OH have done if Rose was kicked out? Played with 8 guys?
My favorite part was when Roid induced angry Clemens and just regularly angry Munson faced off.
And Roger caved, unsurprisingly.

What a clever, poetic , perfect ending
Am I the only one who couldn’t believe there was a shift being played in the All Star game?? Or just the only one who thought it was a joke?
You're not the only one.
